In the Know
I have had to liquidate the
material possessions of several
elderly relatives after they
passed and have seen their
accumulated possessions
simply stacked in a heap in the
corner of a room. Except for
heirlooms, they meant nothing
after the person had passed.
Savings strategies
I enjoyed “8 Ways to Save,”
but suggestion No. 3 (“Track
Every Cent”) left me with a
question: Where does Fred
Ecks find health insurance for
only $93 a month?
DIANE HILTY
Phoenix, Ariz.
I am 58 years old and just
gave up the individual cover-
age I have had for 12 years be-
cause the monthly premiums
became too expensive.
Sez who?
MELINDA R. EGGLEFIELD
Two thumbs down for “50
Movie Zingers” [Power of
50]. Can’t complain about the
choices, just about how credit
was assigned. You credited
the actors? Really?
Venice, Fla.
Those great lines were
created by writers, none of
whom are mentioned on your
page. Remember, an actor
without a writer is a waiter!
And I wrote that!

Movie zinger No. 14—“The
stuff that dreams are made
of,” attributed to Humphrey
Bogart in The Maltese Falcon—
is unquestionably a slightly
altered lift from Shakespeare’s
The Tempest, which goes in
the original: “… such stuff as
dreams are made on.”
CORRECTION In our
March issue, an Ask the
Experts item gave incorrect
information about how to
verify that a 2010 census taker
at your door is legitimate.
Here are verification tips pro-
vided by the Census Bureau:
The census taker must present
an ID badge with a Depart-
ment of Commerce watermark
and an expiration date. The
census taker may carry a bag
with the Census Bureau logo.
Upon request, the census taker
will provide you with supervi-
sor contact information and/
or the phone number of the
local census office. The census
taker will ask only the 10
questions that appear on the
census form.
John Huston, who wrote the
screenplay, obviously knew
where to borrow a good line.
