In savings tip No. 23—“bring
your own drugs”—I got a chuckle
over, “Some hospitals quadruple
the price you would normally
pay for prescription and over-
the-counter medications.”
Several years ago, when I was
in the hospital for a broken
ankle, I told the hospital that
I took the generic form of a
hypothyroidism drug, and that
I would not take their provided
pills, since I suspected they
would vastly overcharge.
