A Champion
for Children
and paint. Eight years ago I began to
work with glass. I now have a studio
and have developed a line of jewelry,
which includes recycled elements.
Items that seem worthless can bring
forth beauty. It is a message of hope
for our time.
I had the privilege of spending time with Dennis Quaid
when I volunteered for six years at his annual charity
golf tournament in Austin, Texas. He is intelligent and
serious when it comes to children’s issues, and his twins’
plight [an accidental drug overdose nearly killed them]
definitely brings the issue of medical mistakes more into
the public eye. I found him to be open and accommodating with the kids at the event, and he always made sure
to visit the city’s children’s hospital. What a wonderful
spokesperson! God bless him and his family.

on tapping into your talents. I do daily
aerobic workouts to reduce stress
and worry, and exercising sparks my
creativity. I enjoy gardening, knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitching.

I was an extra for a week in the film
The Alamo (2004). Dennis Quaid
played General Sam Houston, and
I was thrilled to talk with him. He
answered our questions and was
happy to hang out with a bunch of
ragtag extras. My heart and prayers
went out to Dennis and his wife when
I heard what happened to their two
young children. I’m so glad to learn
they are doing well.
Lively. Bright. Fun. Great job on your
redesign and content additions. As
a lifelong magazine junkie, I see lots
of redesigns go amiss. Yours is hitting
on all cylinders. Congrats to the

I love the magazine’s new look and
features. Your article on living
abroad [“Paradise Found”] made me
want to pack up and head to Europe.
Everything in the magazine this issue
seemed focused on providing encouragement and inspiration. Thanks for

The magazine’s content is still terrific, but the new design reminds me of
a bad trip. Trying to read an article
is like trying to follow an anchor on
TV while “late-breaking news” races
along the bottom.
