Smart
and Sassy
I’m a longtime fan of Betty White and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Both are beautiful women who make no apologies for
themselves. I wish more women of influence were
as vocal as Curtis in rejecting the cosmetic-surgery
industry. And Ms. White has such a wonderful attitude,
which very much reminds me of my own spirited
90-year-old mother. Hats off to you, ladies!

With regard to Jamie Lee Curtis
in your cover story, I have only one
word: WOW!
Surprise Success
As Jane Pauley shared in “Success Is
Messy,” a less-than-perfect situation
can be a catalyst for new possibilities.
I used to take my dog to visit my
Alzheimer’s -stricken father in an
assisted-living facility. People noticed the collars I made for her and
asked me to make them for their pets
as well. Sadly, my father passed away,
but today I have a thriving business.

Beating Loneliness
Your article “All the Lonely People”
explains my situation so well. Friends
are passing away or changing towns,
and there’s no one left for me to confide in. The health ramifications of
chronic loneliness are eye-opening,
but thanks to you, I’m encouraged to
do something about it.

GETTING HELP FOR ADDICTION
I believe the best cure for loneliness
is a pet. They love and listen without
judgment. Can’t have a dog or cat?
Shelters are always looking for people to spend time with the animals.
Companionship works both ways. I
know. I have two rescued dogs and
two rescued cats…love on four paws!
