Hot and Bothered
by Banderas
Imagine how thrilled and surprised
I was to find Antonio Banderas on
the cover! With all due respect to
Melanie Griffith, Antonio is the
hottest piece of eye candy I’ve seen in years. And he
certainly sounds like a class act—a man of integrity
with a sense of family and great insight. It’s nice to
know that one can sizzle at any age!

Act Your Age!
Your photo of Stella Moreno in “The
Real Face of 50” is stunning! Here
is a woman who is proud of her age
and silver hair. I’m 52, and I love my
salt-and-pepper mane! Thank you,
Stella, for being so real. I wish more
women were like you: proud instead
of ashamed about aging.

VIEIRA’S VIEW
Meredith Vieira has chatted with the likes
of President Obama and Madonna in her
long career as a journalist and television
personality. Now she opens up about her
personal life, from her three kids to
her husband’s daily battles with MS. For
a behind-the-scenes peek at the cover
photo shoot, go to

Plants That Poison Your Pet
While “Easy Indoor Gardens” was
well-written, nothing was mentioned
about which plants may be poisonous
to our four-footed family members.
Some common houseplants, such as
the philodendron, can cause reactions if ingested by our furry friends.
I’d urge all pet owners to speak with
their veterinarian, do some research,
and garden conscientiously.

The Facts About Fat
“Big Fat Myths” mentions that “the
words hydrogenated oil or partially
hydrogenated oil on food labels signal
the presence of trans fats.” Fully hydrogenated oils do not contain trans
fat; only partially hydrogenated oils
do. It’s also implied that hard-stick
margarine and vegetable shortening
are 100 percent trans fat, which isn’t
true. Most fats and oils are a combination of different forms of fats.
