A Family’s Fight
Thank you, Richard M.
Cohen and Meredith Vieira,
for opening up your home
and hearts. By living and
dealing with MS, Mr.
Cohen is teaching others
how to deal with the day-to-day frustrations of a debilitat-
ing illness. My father suffered from rheumatoid arthritis,
and he dealt with his condition with dignity and strength.
Two things he taught everyone he met: Don’t give up and
never lose hope.
THOMAS ADAMS
Brewster, New York
I have rheumatoid arthri-
tis, and my husband, like
Vieira, never lets me
feel sorry for myself. He
reminds me that these are
the cards we were dealt,
and this challenge is mak-
ing us all better people.

Sea Worthy
In your guide to cruises,
“Big Boat, Little Boat,” you
left out the ships that carry
fewer than 140 passengers.
You can take Zodiac boats
to shore for walkabouts
twice a day. Wonderful.

Richard Cohen is fortunate
to have access to unlimited
medical care and treatment.
Many people take time off
work—without pay—to deal
with medical issues and
are routinely denied basic
health care coverage.

Tai Chi—Try It!
Dr. Oz suggested yoga as a
way to promote longevity
[“Dr. Oz’s 24 Hours to a
Longer Life”], but I would
recommend tai chi instead.
Thanks to this low-impact
activity, I no longer suffer
from a bad back.
C. HENRY DEPEW
Tallahassee, Florida
When I was diagnosed
with MS, my husband
said to me, “
We
have MS.”
As Cohen and Vieira ex-
plained, love conquers all!

JIM WRIGH T
I have MS, but faith,
friends, and a positive atti-
tude help me wake up and
place my feet on the floor.
